This is honestly one of the most beautiful buildings in town. It's also one of the oldest buildings, as it is over 100 years old. The custom stained glass with biblical stories and wooden detail in the main congregation room is absolutely stunning. While the rest of the building is sorely overdue for a facelift, it is definitely a great church all around.
This was the church I grew up in - I got baptised, attended Sunday School, went to multiple summer bible camps, youth groups, got confirmed here, and was a candle lighter on several occasions. The members of the church are SO warm and welcoming and are always happy to see new and returning faces.
The services aren't ones that try to "scare" you into their beliefs like others may try to do- instead they are nice and inviting, and have never preached hateful things. If you ever have questions and need someone to talk to, the pastors are more than happy to guide you and be a friend.
However, this isn't a big music hall/speak in tounges/jump up and down church either! (CFC would be the place for that). Classic (english-only) hymns and some newer Christian rock is played and members respectfully sit up and down when appropriate/when asked. It's mostly just a traditional lecture style service!
The whole community is pretty laid back and the doors are open for anyone to join in. I've seen both wealthier doctors and friendly homeless people come in to sit at the same service. And while formal wear is preferred, they won't turn you away or give you dirty looks if you prefer to wear a t-shirt and jeans - they'll just happy to see you there!Added November 07, 2016 by Emily L.
